Crafted for Comfort.
Customized for Performance.

Quail built a “smart” home, but with moisture challenges in the Pacific Northwest, the need existed for an even “smarter” solution. Goals included:

  • Make homes that are better for homebuyers. Homes that are energy-efficient, durable and comfortable for families.
  • Best utilize Quail Homes and Owens Corning’s collective years of building science, research and development to build higher-performing homes.

From the start, the relationship between Quail Homes and Owens Corning has been based on trust. Owens Corning offered to help Quail reassess their extensive analysis, which led to displacing their internal air sealing process and replacing it with sealing the outside of their homes to better protect from conditions, including moisture, in the region.

Every Quail home is wrapped in a blanket of PINK® Insulation top to bottom, outside to inside. Owens Corning® FOAMULAR® Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Rigid Foam Insulation provides a continuous layer of insulation and protection from air and moisture intrusion.

Quail Homes has been in the Northwest homebuilding business for over 20 years. Quail Homes weathered the recent housing crisis while others failed because they practiced sound business principles. They believe in doing things right and have never cut corners to generate more profit, a clear indicator of their commitment to quality and building the smartest home in the market.

As a leader in sustainable building practices, Quail Homes is also very focused on customer satisfaction. From top-notch customer service, to the attention to detail that goes into one of their homes, partnering with Owens Corning is helping them exceed buyers’ expectations before, during and after construction.

Renowned for their building science knowledge and their systems that bring that expertise to life for Builders and their customers, Owens Corning is a leading global producer of residential and commercial building materials, which enables the creation of ComfortBuiltTM homes for Quail Homes.

In addition to the building science knowledge and complete high-performance product offering, Owens Corning provided customized marketing support that helped Quail better communicate the value of buying a ComfortBuiltTM home. Support included building science content integrated into the existing Quail Homes website, a brochure and customized insert, and local tradeshow support. From end to end, Owens Corning supplied Quail Homes with marketing consultation and materials to help promote their enhanced offerings.

Through WUFI analysis, Owens Corning can identify how moisture and heat flow affect building materials over time. In reviewing this information, they are able to recommend the best building science solution for Quail Homes, resulting in affordable, durable, comfortable and sustainable homes. With every new project, whether it’s a new home or a renovation, Quail Homes strives to design and build the highest-performance home possible to minimize the use of resources, thereby creating a comfortable living environment, which enhances the value of homes throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Through their green building technology, they deliver homes with a HERS Index of 50, significantly improving comfort and reducing heating and cooling bills over the lifetime of each Quail Home.*
